The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi has honoured 55 students for outstanding achievements in leadership, academics, innovation, and service at the third edition of the Vice-Chancellor’s Students Excellence Awards (VCSEA 2025).
Held under the theme of celebrating holistic student development, this year’s awards recognised accomplishments across 15 categories, including academic excellence, student leadership, peer counselling, entrepreneurship, creative arts, and community service. The awardees were selected from a pool of 290 nominations and received plaques and medals in recognition of their contributions to the university and broader society.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Rita Akosua Dickson reaffirmed the university’s commitment to nurturing leadership and values-driven impact among students.
“The future of our world will be shaped by the leaders we nurture today,” she said. “As a university, we must empower students to lead with integrity, innovate with purpose, and serve with compassion.”
She praised the awardees for embodying KNUST’s values and urged them to view the recognition as a call to further impact.
“Don’t let it end with you. Go and add value to yourself and others, and impact your generation. Keep learning, keep innovating, keep growing as you continue to make us proud,” she said.

Chairperson of the Planning Committee, Professor Samuel Amos-Abanyie, congratulated the students for distinguishing themselves in both character and academic performance. He also expressed gratitude to the university’s management, staff, and sponsors for supporting the event.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Mr. Success Baaba Peters thanked the Vice-Chancellor for acknowledging their efforts and inspiring them to continue striving for excellence.
In the Special Awards category, Marfo Gloria and Owusu Godfred were recognised for humanitarian and international achievements, respectively. Enactus KNUST received the International Exploit Award for leading national efforts in business innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability.
